The Socially Distant 5k 2020

Palm Beach Moms Blog presents the Socially Distant 5k 2020! The race will benefit the Nicholas and Christen Thompson Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports the local chapter of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Palm Beach County, Florida, a free book gifting program for children ages 0-5.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, lace up your running shoes wherever you are, and prepare for a real-world race, with virtual scoring! We will be utilizing AccuChip Virtual Scoring Platform which has live competitive scoring that is updated every two minutes. Simply run your race, then enter your time on the scoring website to see scores and updates in real time. Scoring will include tabulation of overall, gender, and age group categories, providing runners with immediate feedback on how they are performing against other runners in the virtual event.

To participate, register online between now and Friday, May 15, 2020, on our official race website: https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/PalmBeachGardens/sociallydistant5k2020.

Your race entry includes live virtual scoring by AccuChip Timing, a custom finisher’s medal, and a custom race shirt. The race proceeds will directly benefit the Nicholas and Christen Thompson Foundation, which funds the local Palm Beach County branch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails one book per month to children from birth to age five, and $25 will pay for books for one child for one year.

All you need to do to participate in live scoring is run on Saturday, May 16, 2020 and track your 5k (3.1 mile) running time. Then submit your time on the Open Results page using the “Enter Time” icon next to your name. The deadline to submit your race time is noon (12:00pm EST) on Saturday, May 16, 2020.

If you track your running time with a GPS watch or fitness app on your phone, we encourage you to upload the link to your course map from the app. Other race participants can view your map to see where you’ve run, and you can view others’ maps as well. We accept personal map links from the following apps: Strava, Garmin, Polar, MapMyRun, RunKeeper, MovesCount, EndoMondo, and TomTomSports.

This is an unprecedented and historic time in our lives, and with the Socially Distant 5k 2020, you can run a race that supports a great cause, while maintaining safe social distancing guidelines. We might be miles apart, but we can do this together!
